Seamless Saudi Arabia 2022: Day One Roundup

Seamless Saudi Arabia brings together the entire banking and financial services industry to discuss, debate and evaluate the future of money. The two-day conference features more than 200 speakers and attract attendees from across the globe.

On day one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest and boldest events, at the Riyadh International Exhibition and Convention Centre, we delved into topics including financial inclusion, cashless societies and open banking.

SeamlessKSA kicked off with an opening session that explored the potential benefits and issues for new payments, before the governor of the Central Bank of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mubarak delivered a special address to a packed auditorium.

Also in the morning, The Fintech Times editorial director Mark Walker moderated a keynote panel on achieving financial inclusion for underserved populations and societal groups.

He was joined by Drew Propson, head of technology and innovation in financial services at World Economic Forum, Nandan Mer, group CEO at Network International, Bijna Kotak Dasani, ex executive director at Morgan Stanley and Asim Chohan, vice president of global operations at Morgan Stanley to discuss ways to unlock economic opportunities for the underserved.

In the afternoon, Walker once again moderated a discussion panel – this time on digital currencies. Alongside Henk Jan Hoogendoorn, chief financial sector officer at Qatar Financial Centre, Hashem Alhekail, CEO and chairman at BwaTEch and Haiyan Alsaiyed, fintech and emerging technologies consulting lead at DXC TECHNOLOGY, explored the impact of financial stability and driving development around the world
fintech.

Other panels discussed the dawn of open banking in Saudi Arabia and how it is a step toward making the kingdom a regional and global fintech hub featuring Mambu and Salt Edge. Plus Saudi’s cashless society and the route to building a digitally enabled and financially literate population.

The Fintech Times team also hit the SeamlessTV studio for a number of fantastic video interviews. Plus there was the opportunity to attend product demonstrations, live attractions and enjoy plenty of networking opportunities.
